Obituary of Margaret Fagan

Margaret Loretta (Peggy) Fagan 94, of Wedgewood Drive, Middletown, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 9, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Newport, Rhode Island on March 27, 1923, Peggy was the daughter of the late Jeremiah S. Sullivan and Julia M. (Sullivan) Sullivan. She attended Hazard Memorial School, graduated from Saint Joseph's High School in 1940 and studied at the University of Rhode Island.

For fifty-five years Peggy was married to her best friend, James P. Fagan. Jim passed away in 2001.

For many years Peggy worked at Newport Hospital retiring in 1985. Thereafter, she and James spent winters in Naples, Florida with their numerous friends from the Newport area. She was a parishioner of Saint Lucy's Church.

Peggy is survived by her daughters Patricia A. O’Brien and her husband G. Peter of Riverside, Connecticut, and Monica J. Condry and her husband Michael J. of Middletown, sons James P. Fagan and his wife Christine of Middletown, Paul C. Fagan and his wife Ann of Portsmouth, and Michael J. Fagan, of Portsmouth, who was her devoted caregiver for the last years of her life, nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was mother of the late Barbara J. Fagan.

She was also the sister of Joseph A. Sullivan, Henry T. Sullivan, Monica Sullivan and Mary M. Sullivan, all deceased.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 from 4-7pm at the O’Neill-Hayes Funeral Home, 465 Spring Street, Newport.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 14th, at 9am in Saint Lucy's Church. Interment will be at St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown, RI.
