Obituary of Jonathan Spinney
Jonathan E. Spinney, 66, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, January 6th,2018. He survived by his wife Constance Hayes Spinney, 3 children and 8 grandchildren. Jon was a lifelong resident of Newport graduating from Rogers High School in 1970. After service in the air force he returned to Newport, where he worked for the City of Newport traffic department for 31 years. He was a member of Hazard’s Beach Association and Miskiania Camp Association.
Visiting hours will be 4-7 pm on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 in the O’Neill-Hayes Funeral Home, 465 Spring Street, Newport, RI.
A committal service will be held Thursday, January 11, 2018 at St. Columba Cemetery Chapel, 465 Brown’s Lane, Middletown at 10:00 am.
Jon was an avid walker at Sachuest Point so in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jon’s name to Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge: Checks may be made payable and mailed to Friends of the National Wildlife Refuges of Rhode Island, 50 Bend Road, Charlestown, RI 02813. Please identify the donation specifically for Sachuest Point.
