JoAnn (Papaleo) Vieau
After a courageous 3 year battle with cancer, JoAnn Vieau, of Newport RI, passed away at MGH Hospice Centerl in Boston MA.
She was the beloved wife of David P. Vieau and daughter of the late Joseph and Betty Papaleo of Rochester NY, where JoAnn was born.
She built on her natural talent for design in managing the renovation of three historic properties in Newport including the Beacon Rock Carriage House and the Playhouse on Ocean Avenue that was featured in Design New England Architectural Magazine.
JoAnn was happiest when surrounded by family and friends, and focusing her endless creative energy on designing and cultivating gardens and landscapes. She made the world a more beautiful place in every way.
She is survived by her loving children, David (Courtney) of Guilford CT, Colette (Mordecai) of Cranston RI, and Stefanie (Tom) of Newport RI. A beloved Nani to Alexis, Grace, Cecilia and Natalie. Her sister Kathy Lindsay of Rochester NY was by her side along with her Uncle Tom Papaleo and extended family.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday March 3, 2018 from 3 to 6PM at O'Neill-Hayes Funeral Home, 465 Spring Street Newport. Her funeral will be on Sunday March 4, 2018 at 3PM at Trinity Church Newport.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Vernon Cancer Center, 2014 Washington Street, Newton, MA 02462.
