Obituary of Charles Sullivan III

Charles M. Sullivan III, 60, passed away peacefully in Providence on December 9, 2017. The son of Charles M. Sullivan Jr. and Elizabeth Toomey Sullivan, he was born on November 12, 1957 and raised in Newport, RI. Charlie attended Rogers High School and went on to graduate from Worcester Polytechnic Institute with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. He then obtained his MBA from Babson College. Charlie had over 30 years of banking and wealth management experience. His career began at Fleet Financial Group. He then joined Smith Barney’s High Net Worth division as a Vice President, followed by becoming a Senior Vice President at Citizens Bank’s Private Wealth group then a Senior Vice President at TD Bank. He was a member of the Providence Society of Financial Analysts.

Charlie raised his family in Rumford, RI. where he was very active as a volunteer lacrosse, soccer and basketball coach when his children were young. He was devoted to his family and enjoyed his time playing golf, squash and tennis with family and friends, and enjoying an occasional cigar. He was a former member of the University Club in Providence, Agawam Hunt Club in Rumford, and Ida Lewis Yacht Club in Newport.

He is survived by Colleen Bohan Sullivan, his 3 children, Chuck, Daniel and his wife Teresa, Cornelia, his grandson Wyatt Sullivan, and his sister Barbara Sullivan Carey and her husband Rick Carey. Charlie was also beloved by his 7 nieces. He will be missed by a large group of extended family and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday December 16, at 10am, St. Mary’s Church in Newport.  In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in his memory to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation: 60 Walnut Street, Wellesley Hills, MA 02481.
