Obituary of Josette Harris
Josette Harris, 70, of Middletown, passed away Friday, December 22, 2017 at Newport Hospital after a short illness. She was the wife of John Harris
Born on March 3, 1947 in Providence. She was a daughter of Joseph and Lucretia (Vaccaro) Massa. She was also the sister of the late Lucretia Raiola.
Josette lived in Bristol before moving to Middletown working as a hairdresser for many years. After leaving hairdressing she became manager of the Hallmark store in Newport until it closed and went on to work at Rogers High School food service until her retirement in 2011.
Josette loved being near the water and for the past 24 years she and her husband would spend their summer vacation on Cape Cod. She enjoyed the peace and quiet of Fort Adams where she would spend hours sunning, going in the water and doing word search puzzles. Every year she looked forward to the month of June when the Tuesday night bocce league would start. It meant 4 months of fun and laughter with all her friends she enjoyed so much being with.
The time that was most special to her was spending Christmas Eve and Christmas day with all her nieces and nephews eating all that delicious Italian food.
She is survived by her loving husband John having 40 years of happiness, her Aunt Marry Vaccaro of Warren, RI and many nieces and nephews. Josette’s funeral services will be private.
