Obituary of Elsie Maloney
Elsie Christine (Sorensen) Maloney of Newport passed away Thursday, January 11, 2018 at the John Clarke Retirement Center in Middletown. Elsie was born on January 19, 1921 in Newport and was the wife of the late Francis X. Maloney who passed away on December 7, 2003. Born in Newport, RI, she was the daughter of the late Karl and Christine Sorensen.
Elsie retired from Eppley Laboratory after 25 years. Elsie was the sister of the late Carl, Robert and Donald Sorensen.
Elsie leaves her children, Francis Thomas Maloney (Cynthia) of Tiverton, Robert Maloney, of Middletown, James Maloney(Kathleen) of Middletown, Maureen McCurdy (James) of North Kingstown, and Stephen Maloney (Carole) of Newport.
In retirement Elsie and Frank spent many days at their home on Goat Island tending to their beloved grandchildren, Matthew Maloney of Middletown, James McCurdy (Kathleen) of Lincoln, Ryan Maloney (Liisa) of Middletown, Katherine DeMolles (Alexander) of Jamestown and Merrill Allen (Alexander) of Jamestown.
Elsie also leaves her great grandchildren, Kaden, Alexander, Abigail, Johanna, James, Anna and Liam.
Elsie’s funeral and burial services will be private, and arrangements are with O’Neill-Hayes Funeral Home.
