Obituary of William E. Bell
William Emile "Zoph" Bell of Portsmouth, beloved husband and father of two children passed away on Sunday July 28th, 2019 at the age of 71.
Bill/Zoph was born January 2nd, 1948 in Newport, RI to Emery Joseph and Germaine (Mandeville) Bell. He attended De La Salle Academy and received a degree in history from Holy Cross College. He worked at Eastern Ice, Cozy Cab and Stop & Shop. In September of 1982 he married Coffee (Karen) Bell. They raised two sons together, Sean 45 and Justin 35.
Both Zoph and Coffee had a passion for music, especially the Grateful Dead. That love was shared with both children. No two children went to more Dead shows. He loved spending time with his children and even coached Little League. He was a true and loyal friend. He had a quiet, intelligent and peaceful nature. His beard was his treasured signature.
Bill/Zoph is preceded in death by his father Emery, his mother Germaine his sister Jeannine Williamson and his brother Arthur. He is survived by his wife/partner Coffee, his two sons Justin and Sean, his sister Rose Kane, brother-in-law Michael Kane and 11 nieces and nephews, 16 great-nieces and nephews and 3 great-great nieces.
A Celebration of Life will take place in the Fall.
