Hilary Kinsella

Obituary of Hilary Kinsella

Hilary Anne Kinsella, age 47, of Greene Lane, Newport, died Saturday evening, January 19, 2008, at home with her family by her side. Hilary fought like a warrior, in every sense of the word, against a rare and ultimately fatal illness. Hilary was the daughter of Jane and the late Kevin Brawley of Charlottesville, VA. She was the beloved wife of Kevin Kinsella and the mother of her adored sons, Nathan, Nicholas, and Zachary. She leaves behind her sisters Shannon Brawley and her husband Michael of Rumsey, CA, and Siobhan Gray and her husband Martin of Charlottesville, VA. In South Kingston, RI, she leaves a close and loving brother, Graham Brawley and his wife Marina. She was the daughter-in-law of Rita and Martin Kinsella of Middletown, RI. She will also be missed by her three nieces and six nephews, as well as many family and friends. She touched young and old in the community through many years of work at the Newport Hospital, OB-GYN Associates, and most recently the Foot and Ankle Institute of New England. Named after the Patron Saint of laughter, Hilary could be hilarious, giving her friends and colleagues a poke in the side with her humor when they made a gaffe. Hilary touched many because she had humility and empathy, a gentle spirit that could become your fiercest advocate, just by looking straight into your eyes. She read, and read, and read, and enjoyed an eclectic taste in music. Hilary was the holidays, family reunions, and celebration of life. The overwhelming support and generosity of this community has been heartfelt and comforting to her family. To honor her memory we encourage you to seize each moment and to cherish the meaning of family . . . that was, and still is Hilary. Her burial will be private, while a celebration of her life will be announced at a later date. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2008 from 4:00-7:00pm in the O'Neill-Hayes Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Hilary's memory may be made to Child and Family Services of Newport County, 24 School St, Newport, RI, 02840.
