Obituary of Joseph Hattub

Joseph M. Hattub, 80 of Sylvan Terrace, died Monday, January 28, 2008, at St. Clare Home for the Aged, Newport, RI. He was the husband of JoAnn C. Hattub, to whom he was married for 58 years. Born in Newport, RI on December 4, 1927, he was the son of the late John C. and Adele (Ganem) Hattub. Joe attended DeLaSalle Academy and was employed in the automobile industry for over 50 years. Joe was the Vice President and General Manager of Bove Chevrolet where he worked for over 30 years. An Army Veteran of World War II, Joe also belonged to the Fraternal Order of State Police and was a member of the Rotary Club of Newport for many years. Joe also enjoyed his many years playing baseball at Cardines Field with the Newport Sunset League. During Joe's retirement years, he enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events. Besides his wife JoAnn, Joe is also survived by his children John Hattub and his wife, Mary of Brockton, MA, Adele (Hattub) Bowley and her husband Albert "Tip" of Newport, Michael J. Hattub of Newport, and Annie (Hattub) Tatirosian and her husband Brian of Middletown. Five grandchildren also survive him, Albert "Bubba" Bowley, Erin Bowley, Nicholas Bowley, Jack Tatirosian and Grace Tatirosian. He was the brother of Grace M. Hattub, Michael J. Hattub and his wife Dyan, and the late Nuzlie Catalani, Adeline Gray, Florence Leon and Lorraine Jabbour. Joe also leaves many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Calling hours are respectfully omitted. A Committal Service and burial at St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the wonderful, compassionate people at the St. Clare Home for the Aged, 309 Spring Street, Newport, RI 02840.
