Obituary of Morton Kosch

Morton D. Kosch, 88, a resident of the R.I. Veterans Home in Bristol and formally of 378 Mail Coach Rd., Portsmouth, died Saturday, May 19, 2007 at the home. He was the husband of the late Lillian (Lincoln) Kosch. Born in Newport, on August 24, 1918, he was the son of the late Samuel and Rose (Molasky) Kosch. Mr. Kosch had co-owned and operated the former Swan Cleaners in Middletown for many years, until its closing in the late 1970's. He was a graduate of Rogers High School, class of 1937 and was very active with their alumni association. He was a veteran of World War II, U.S. Army Air Corp, receiving numerous citations. Mr. Kosch was a life member of Touro Synagogue in Newport, serving as the president from1970-1971, an active participant in B'nai Brith and the AZA, Chairman of the Fund Raising Committee, member of the Board of Directors of Society of Friends of Touro Synagogue and was one of three General Chairmen of the 50th Anniversary Dinner Dance. He was a member of the Portsmouth Democratic Party and worked for the development of the Portsmouth School System. Mr. Kosch is survived by his daughters, Carol L. Alfano and her husband Raymond of East Greenwich, R.I., Janet A. Bazar of Pawtucket, R.I., Robin A. Ringer and her husband Yoram of Providence, R.I., 6 grandchildren, Bethany Fain, Allyson See, Scott Alfano, Justin Bazar, Lymor Ringer and Talia Ringer and 5 great grandchildren, Emily, Molly and Noah See and Ethan and Colin Fain. Mr. Kosch funeral service will be Monday, May 21, 2007 at the Hoffman Jewish Memorial Chapel, Fowler Avenue, Newport at 1:00pm. Burial at the Beth Olam Cemetery in Middletown, R.I. Shiva will be observed at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Alfano, 60 Jefferson Drive, East Greenwich, R.I. Monday, following the funeral service.
