Anne E. Murphy, age 79, passed away March 18, 2007 at Scalabrini Villa. Born in Newport, she was a daughter of the late John J. and Johanna (Shea) Murphy of Holland St. She was the wife of the late John W. Murphy (Tiger). They were married 50 years. Anne lived in Cranston for 35 years before retiring to Newport and Delray Beach, FL. Prior to her marriage, she worked at New England Telephone Co. in Newport and in later years, at United Printing. Anne loved spending time with her family, dancing with her husband and sharing a smile with all. Anne was the loving mother of Linda Jackson of Warwick, Brenda Murphy of Parkland, FL, Joanna and Colleen Murphy both of New York City, John Murphy of Grantham, NH, and Laura Scuncio of Cranston. She leaves seven grandchildren, Seth Jackson of Franklin, MA, Neil Jackson of Warwick, Jamie Haage of New York City, Tyler Haage of Cranston, Alexandra and Andrew Scuncio of Cranston and John W. Murphy IV of Grantham, NH and two great grandchildren Mariyah Haage of Boca Raton, FL and Savannah Haage of Cranston. She was the sister of the late John J. Murphy, Mary Harvey, Bernard Murphy, Catherine Young and Joseph Murphy. Anne was a longtime parishioner of St Mark's Church of Cranston and St Mary's of Newport. She was also a member of the Newport Cape Cod Cuties. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at St. Mary's Church, Spring St., Newport at 9:00am. Burial at St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown, Rhode Island. Visiting hours Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at the O'Neill-Hayes Funeral Home, 465 Spring St. Newport from 4:00 to 7:00 pm In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Scalabrini Villa, 860 North Quidnessett Rd, North Kingston, RI 02952.
