Obituary of Rudolph Herzog
Rudolph J. Herzog, 83, of Ruggles Avenue, Newport, died on Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at Newport Hospital from complications due to pneumonia. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Rosa; his son, Rudolf, daughter -in-law, Bonnie and grandson, Carey, of Wareham, Mass.; his son, Peter, and grandson, Stephan, of St. Paul, MN; and his son, Alfred, of Norcross, Georgia. Born in Karlstein, Germany, the son of Georg and Susanna Schiesser, Rudolph immigrated to the U.S. in 1949. Soon thereafter, he established the Quality Bakery, which he ran until his retirement ten years ago. Rudolph received many awards for his baking throughout his lifetime and was honored to make the wedding cake for President John F. Kennedy, a cake for President Dwight D. Eisenhower, numerous birthday cakes for Senator Pell and assorted goods for other dignitaries. He was a member of the Order of Red Men and an avid soccer, New England Patriots and New York Yankees fan His funeral and burial will be private. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.
